アンモナイト錦

およそ3億5千年前、古生代から生きていたアンモナイト。

今もなお我々に浪漫を搔き立ててくれる。

その化石には美しいらせん状の姿と共に個性あふれる縫合線の模様がある。

菊の葉に似て、菊石とも言われるアンモナイトの縫合線をアンモライトの

宝石の如く錦に変容させた。

Ammonite Motif in Woven Nishiki

Ammonites existed on earth from about 350,000,000 years ago. Even today, they evoke a kind of mysterious, romantic quality within us. These beautiful fossils are spiral-shaped and are adorned with an abundance of unique suture patterns. The ammonite, itself, could easily be called a "chrysanthemum stone," whereas the chrysanthemum leaf-like detail of the sutures becomes ammonite jewels, when transformed into woven Nishiki.
